Are you looking to have a simple, legal ceremony? Are you looking to be married soon? Did you know that in Australia, a couple needs to lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage a month before marrying?

One option for a simple and legal marriage is to be married at the Registry Office. For a similar price, you can also be legally married by a civil marriage celebrant.

As of today, Sunday 26th June, the first appointment available at the Brisbane Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages to lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage is July 27 – see screenshot. This means that the first day you could marry is August 27.

Whereas, as a civil celebrant, I am available to meet with you tomorrow evening when you finish work – that’s June 27. You could be married on July 27 – a whole month before the registry office.

Something to think about!
