Beach wedding at Straddie

  • Posted By cheryl

North Stradbroke Island is Kylee and Doug’s favourite place in the world, so of course they chose Home Beach at Straddie for their wedding location. Their DIY wedding ceremony was chilled, earthy, and genuine – just like the two of them.
Kylee and Doug rented a beach house at Point Lookout with views out over the ocean. They spent the morning of the wedding setting up marquees fitted with Persian rugs, cushions, lanterns, and long tables for a relaxed, boho Straddie wedding vibe.
North Stradbroke Island is a 20 minute water taxi trip from Cleveland, Brisbane, and is a favourite location for day trips, weekend breaks, and wedding celebrations.
Gorgeous photos by Capturing Life Portraiture.

Emily and Ben had an idea for their wedding day – they wanted something fun, adventurous, and totally unexpected. They contacted the team at Elope Brisbane to set their plans in motion. They met up with celebrant Cheryl Landsberry before the wedding to complete the required Notice of Intended Marriage and choose some ceremony wording. Next, Romana pulled the team together and made some bookings.

The night before their secret wedding, Emily and Ben stayed in a Brisbane hotel overlooking the city lights. The next morning, Ben went for a haircut, polished his shoes, dressed up in a super dapper suit, and met up with his mate, Leroy, who was chuffed to act as witness for the wedding.

Meanwhile, Emily and her mum, Cherie, were pampered at Twidale Hair and Beauty, with lashes, curls, and flawless makeup.

We all met up by the Powerhouse Museum at NewFarm, which provided a contemporary and striking backdrop for the wedding ceremony. Emily was wearing a fitted white gown, slit to the thigh, from Alamour the Label – and she looked absolutely sensational. Ben’s parents in the UK were livestreamed in to the ceremony so they could enjoy the moment too.

After the ceremony, photographer Romana snapped the couple in locations by the Brisbane River and New Farm Park, before heading off to Fortitude Valley for some cocktails and arcade games at B Lucky. The couple finished the night off with dinner at drinks at the Rooftop Bar at the brand new Hotel X overlooking the Story Bridge.

After their breathtaking Brisbane city wedding, Emily and Ben surprised all their friends with epic tales and photos at a reveal at their backyard engagement party. Such a fabulous way to be wed!

We loved being a part of the adventure!

Elopement at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mount Coot-tha

When they first met, on a night out with mutual friends, Peter noticed that Laura was quite hilarious, a little wild, and a lot of fun. He was left speechless at her antics and quips. After a little while chatting, Laura saw that under his tough veneer, Peter was actually one of the sweetest guys she had ever met. They have been inseparable ever since, and love that they can be their true selves when they are together.

Laura and Peter decided on a very low-key and intimate ceremony at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mount Coot-tha, inviting just their closest family. After pampering with professional hair and make-up artist, An Eye for Style, Laura was ready to meet Peter under the arbour created by Miss Weddings. Her beautiful flowers were from Little Miss Flower Shoppe. The Botanic Gardens  were shady and tranquil and made for a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. Celebrant Cheryl Landsberry soon had the couple relaxed, laughing, and holding back a sentimental tear during their heart-felt ceremony. Photographer Romana Saeheng captured still and video footage of the ceremony to share with friends and treasure forever.

After some family photos around the Botanic Gardens, the group were whisked by Kandid Kombi back to Black Hide Steakhouse for a delicious dinner.

Peter and Laura loved leaving everything up to Elope Brisbane and enjoyed their entire wedding experience. “We can’t express how much we appreciated being consulted on our ceremony and your opennes to changing anything we requested,” was their feedback to Cheryl Landsberry, celebrant.

The Brisbane Botanic Gardens at Mount Coot-tha have three areas available to hire for weddings. See their website for more details or contact the team at http://www.elopebrisbane.com.au

Elopement – Brisbane City

Elopement at Kangaroo Point

“Taila had butterflies in her tummy when she first laid eyes on Trevor. Trevor though Taila was just gorgeous, and he instantly wanted to kiss her. As they chatted, Taila noticed how gentlemanly and softly spoken Trevor was. She knew straight away that he was the one for her.”

Taila and Trevor were planning a big, white wedding. Then they started thinking about what was really important to them. And decided, instead, to just get married straight away. They contacted the team from Elope Brisbane, completed the legal Notice, and asked a couple of special friends to be their witnesses.

Celebrant Cheryl Landsberry wrote the ceremony telling the couple’s story.

“You really have done such a beautiful, beautiful job. We are both in tears. Thank you so much.”

Trevor threw on a checked shirt, and Taila donned a pretty sundress. She had a denim jacket made up with her newly married name embossed on the back to keep her warm as the day cooled. They were married by the Brisbane River in an adorable and intimate ceremony. No fuss, no frills, and now they are living their happily ever after dream.

After a quick photo shoot in the afternoon sun, the newlweds headed over the river to Brisbane city for a celebratory dinner and city stay honeymoon.

Autumn wedding at Kangaroo Point

When Daniel first caught sight of Anna, she was wearing a winter coat that reminded Daniel of a snow queen. He thought Anna was the most beautiful girl he had ever met, and he wanted to meet her.

Fast forward ten years, and Anna and Daniel were on the other side of the world, switching their snow boarding for surfing, and setting up home together in sunny Queensland. When Daniel proposed, Anna was delighted, and although she would have loved her European family to be by her side, they couldn’t wait to be married, and contacted the team from Elope Brisbane to help plan their wedding day.

Guests from Melbourne were treated to a balmy Autumn afternoon by the sparkling Brisbane River for the romantic ceremony.

Anna, still the most beautiful girl Daniel had ever seen, wore a flower crown from Little Miss Flower Shoppe atop her braided hair.

A circular arbour by Miss Weddings framed the Brisbane city skyline as a backdrop for the wedding.

Celebrant Cheryl Landsberry told the couple’s love story, with a little sweetness and a little humour.

And photographer Romana Saeheng captured all the smiles and tears and everything in between.

Micro wedding at Kangaroo Point

Criona and Michael had just one request for their micro wedding at Kangaroo Point – they wanted their pup, Fenton, to be included in the ceremony. This was no problem for the team at Elope Brisbane, who are always delighted to work with furbabies.

Stylist, Miss Weddings, created a circular arbour as the backdrop for the ceremony which was held by the Brisbane River on a glorious afternoon. Criona’s family, all still in Ireland, watched the ceremony via Zoom, and the couple can’t wait to jet back to Ireland as soon as they can to celebrate their wedding twice over.

Celebrant Cheryl told the story of the couple’s meeting at a beer garden at Southbank. Criona was chatty, and entertained Michael with tales of her life, her adventures, and her misadventures. Luckily, Michael was an eager listener, and the couple have been together ever since.

Photographer Romana snapped the couple with and without the star of the wedding, Fenton, and also took the opportunity to take photos of family and friends who had gathered to celebrate.

The celebrations then continued at a nearby waterfront restaurant, where the couple dined and danced until late into the evening.

Congratulations to you both!

Jo and Tim knew exactly how they wanted to be married – a simple, fuss-free, legal ceremony in Brisbane city, followed by a series of celebrations with each of their family and friends.

They planned their Brisbane city elopement with the team at Elope Brisbane, and were met at Kangaroo Point Cliffs Park by celebrant Cheryl and photographer Romana.

Jo’s beautiful wedding dress was from the Bridal Company at Helensvale.

Even though their ceremony was short and sweet, it was still memorably special, and Jo left this recommendation for celebrant Cheryl,

“My partner and I were married recently! The entire process was made extremely simple by Cheryl. We have not had to stress over any details. We were given a step by step process to truly simplify things and take the stress away!! On our special day, Cheryl was amazing. The ceremony was perfect and I would not change a thing.

I would highly recommend Cheryl to any couple looking for a celebrant on their special day.”
The couple were then whisked off to a dinner with friends, followed by a weekend away, followed by a family lunch, a party, and a celebration dinner! That’s the way to do it! Call the crew at http://www.elopebrisbane.com.au to organise your Brisbane elopement in the city.

On their tenth anniversary, this couple hired a house at North Stradbroke Island to host their wedding celebrations. In the afternoon, they went down to the beach for a simple elopement.

Standing under the shade of the tree, overlooking the aqua blue ocean at Point Lookout, they exchanged legal wedding vows in the presence of their immediate families.

Their elopement had a relaxed atmosphere. Straddie is the perfect place for a chilled wedding day.

The team at Elope Brisbane added some extra touches to this Straddie wedding, including a personal wedding ring memento, a surfboard inscribed with the couple’s name, and a Kombi!

Ocean View Estates is located an hour’s drive north-west of Brisbane’s City Centre. Set atop Mount Mee, the views are spectacular.

Anna and Luke exchanged vows under the purpose-built gazebo, which provided shade to their guests on a beautiful, summer day.

The couple promised to love each other for infinity as they were cheered on by their family and friends. Their ceremony was sweet, genuine, and a little funny.
