Brisbane wedding at New Farm

.

For your summer wedding, a venue with shady trees and breeze from the river ensures the guests are cool and comfortable. Events on Oxlade ticks both these boxes, and was the location of Lana and Mehdi’s gorgeous January wedding.

The groom and groomsmen wore blue jackets, and the bridesmaids were dressed in pale blue. Luckily, skies were blue, too, which meant that the Brisbane River was looking her finest.

Bride, Lana, was radiating happiness as she exchanged vows with her handsome groom. She held a bouquet of sunflowers, reflecting the location of the marriage proposal – a field of sunflowers.

Nearby New Farm Park provided plenty of photographic opportunities which photographer, Romana Saeheng, used to her advantage. The photos turned out beautifully.

As the sun set, the guests enjoyed music, conversation, cool drinks and canapes under the festive lights.

Brisbane Wedding at Sirromet Winery Mount Cotton

  

Nikki and Matt were married at Sirromet Winery, Mount Cotton. The arbour at Sirromet winery has been freshly painted white, and was decorated with pink and white roses by local florist Capalaba Carnations.

Nikki’s bridesmaids wore soft pink dresses in various styles. Matt’s groomsmen wore navy waistcoats and trousers, choosing to keep cooler on a summer’s afternoon. Family and friends cheered them on as they walked into the ceremony area to the song “Stand by Me”. Celebrant Cheryl Landsberry told the story of Nikki and Matt’s first meeting, their first date, and Matt’s proposal in Grundewald, Switzerland on Christmas morning. The ceremony was magical, and guests were delighted to hear Matt tell how easy it is for him to be so in love with Nikki, and hear Nikki tell how she loves Matt more than Disney and Harry Potter. They placed their written vows into a special timber box containing a bottle of wine from Sirromet Wines – to be opened on the birth of their first child.

 

Guests tossed rose petals as Matt and Nikki walked back down the aisle into their married life together – and don’t the look ecstatic?!

Weddings

Brisbane Wedding at Cherbon Waters, Burbank,

Judi and Bob are childhood sweethearts. They wanted a relaxed and enjoyable wedding ceremony, and a celebration with family and friends afterwards. Redlands celebrant, Cheryl Landsberry, wrote a sweet ceremony which told the couple’s story.

Bob and Judi chose Cherbon Waters at Burbank for their wedding, as the property caters for both ceremony and reception at the one location. Cherbon Waters is located on the banks of the Leslie Harrison Dam.

Judi was escorted down the aisle by her proud dad, Alberto. Judi wore the dress which was worn by her late mother to her own wedding day. How special is that? Alberto also sung a cappella during the signing of the certificates.

Bob and Judi also incorporated a handfasting into their ceremony, using this black cord. The cord will be kept as a keepsake of their wedding ceremony.

They didn’t need it on this beautiful spring day, but the arbour at Cherbon Waters provides shelter in the event of rainy weather. Bob and Judi left the ceremony area, arm in arm, delighted to be finally married.

Guests enjoyed canapes and drinks on the lawn as the bridal party had some formal photos taken. Redlands photographer, Romana Saeheng, made quick work of the essential photos, as the bridal party were eager to join their guests and celebrate with them.

Baby Naming Ceremonies

Baby Naming Ceremony at Whepstead Manor

Whepstead Manor is a historic house at Wellington Point, in Brisbane. The house is now a private home, but being friends of the owner, Charlotte’s family was able to hold her baby naming ceremony there.

Saturday was a warm day, but the breeze from the bay kept the temperature pleasant. The naming ceremony was held in the gazebo under an enormous Moreton Bay Fig Tree.

After playing the song, A Little Ray of Sunshine, Charlotte’s parents made promises to their only daughter as their sons, friends, and family looked on. Five Godparents were appointed for Charlotte, and they each lit a candle for her.

Guests wrote notes for Charlotte on pretty coloured paper, and the notes were folded and stashed in a special box to save until Charlotte turns 18.

 

After the ceremony, a few family photos were taken to commemorate the day. Guests were looking forward to a cold beverage or two and a picnic lunch.

Charlotte’s mum sent this lovely note of thanks, “Lee and I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you so very very much for the beautiful naming day you have our daughter today. It was amazing and so personal. Thank you so much for the poem for each of us. We will be recommending you to our family and friends in the future. Thank you again, Jodie and Lee.”

Baby Naming Ceremony

Luke’s parents celebrated his safe arrival and introduced him to their family and friends with a baby naming ceremony on Saturday. Their back deck was the shady and breezy location for the ceremony on a warm, Brisbane morning. I chose the song, “Beautiful Boy” by John Lennon to start the ceremony, and played the music through my portable PA system. Luke’s big sister swayed to the music adorably. The ceremony started with a welcome, and I included a poem about motherhood for Luke’s mum, and also one for Luke’s father. Luke’s parents chose to  honour four of their closest friends by asking them to be Luke’s Godparents. Being a Godparent has no legal or religious responsibility in a civil baby naming ceremony. The Godparents promised to be a part of Luke’s life as he grows up, and to be available to assist and advise him.

Luke’s cousin led the children present as they sprinkled silk petals over Luke’s forehead, and we wished him a secure and happy life. Luke’s mum later collected the petals to keep in his time capsule until his 21st birthday. Did you know that the name, “Luke” means “light giver”?

Certificates were presented to Luke and the Godparents, and then it was time for a few photographs to mark the occasion. Luke and his big sister were dressed in pastel mint, his mum wore an off the shoulder white, crocheted dress, and dad a light shirt, so the colour palette made for gorgeous family photos.

The guests were keen for some cold beverages and a light lunch, and I thanked the family for once again including me in their celebrations and said my goodbyes. Baby naming ceremonies are one of the most enjoyable ceremonies for a celebrant, and watching a little family grow and thrive is hugely rewarding.

Mount Cotton Wedding

Jordie and Daniel’s picture perfect wedding at Rainforest Gardens, Mount Cotton was captured by the team at Everlast Studios Photography. Marriage Celebrant Cheryl Landsberry told the sweet story of how the couple met. Jordan’s five bridesmaids wore pastel apricot, and the five groomsmen wore navy suits.

Jordan looked beautiful in a strapless white gown, with her blonde hair curled. She wore green gemstone earrings which sparkled as she laughed.

Daniel was dapper in a navy suit and charming grin.

The Rainforest Gardens has a timber ceremony deck in front of the pond. Lush palms tower over the area, providing shade and a sense of tranquility.

 

Tips

How To Choose Your Weddings Photographer

Choosing your wedding photographer can be daunting. Anyone with a camera claims they can do the job for you. After over 15 years in the wedding industry, I’ve come up with some tips to help you choose your photographer:

1. Is the person you are meeting the person who will be your photographer? With an owner/operator, you know that the person you meet with will be your photographer on the day. Avoid agencies who have a sales team to sign you up, then hire a contractor for your wedding day. They probably only hire qualified professionals, but you need to know that you will feel at ease with your photographer for the best results.

2. What is the turnaround for the photo delivery? Photographers work a long day on your wedding day, and the photographs need sorting and editing afterwards. There can be a backlog in busy times, such as Spring, when the photographer may have weddings booked every weekend. Choose a photographer who will have 2 or 3 gorgeous photos ready for you within a couple of days of the wedding so you can announce your marriage on social media.

3. There’s a fine line between too bossy and too relaxed. A chilled photographer is easy to get along with, but you don’t want to be standing around for precious time while your relatives amble into position for photos. A good photographer can direct the required family photos efficiently so you can get on with the celebrations.

Cleveland Wedding Celebrant

Today’s wedding was a sweet ceremony at Cleveland Point. The set-up by Beautiful Illusions reflected the bayside location, looking out to North Stradbroke Island. The bride wore a dress similar to Kate Middleton’s, and she was breathtakingly elegant. The groom and his brother were dapper in crisp navy suits, The bridesmaid wore flowing emerald green. The couple pictured a simple, but classic ceremony, and were soon enjoying celebrating with their guests. Photographer, Andy, from A Thousand Miles Photography made the most of the perfect afternoon light – a few clouds covered the glare of the sun for perfect photography lighting.
