Today I received a beautiful hand written note from the new Mr and Mrs W.

“Dear Cheryl,
Thank you so much for being our absolutely amazing marriage celebrant. We are so happy you were part of our special day and part of all the energy and magic the day brought. Thank you for being so patient, kind and funny with us. We had so much fun and we had so many beautiful comments about how you performed and spoke during the ceremony. You really kept us all calm, relaxed, and grounded.

And thank you for being so prompt with all the emails and calls and lodging our paperwork.

Lots of love from the new Mr and Mrs W.”

Wedding at Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens

Laura and Adam chose the Waterfall Deck at picturesque Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens at Brookfield for their ceremony. Their brief for their ceremony was classic, timeless, and romantic. Laura wanted the fairytale wedding, with a fabulous gown and a tiara. But they also wanted the ceremony to be light and fun.

Laura arrived at the ceremmony in a vintage Jaguar from Wheels to Weddings, accompanied by her three bridesmaids wearing emerald green. The ceremony space was styled elaboratley with a circular arbour from Twin Event. In fitting with their classic theme, Laura walked down the aisle on the arm of her father to Pachelbel’s Canon in D.

Laura and Adam first met on a camping trip organised by a mutual group of friends. Laura realised that Adam was a capable man to have around and thought he would come in handy if ever she had a spider to wrangle, a tyre to change, or some heavy thing which needed lifting.

Adam was interested in Laura, but the distance between their homes put her out of his “radius”. Until he was smitten by her witty banter and he realised that his face was aching from smiling whenever Laura was around.

Celebrant Cheryl Landsberry told the story of the couple’s first meeting and of their adventures together leading up to their magical wedding day.

The couple also created a memories box during their ceremony, in which they placed their wedding invitation and save-the-date magnet, a menu from their favourite restaurant, a copy of their wedding vows, and a letter to each other to be opened in five years from their wedding date.

Photographer Bernadette Draffin captured some gorgeous romantic memories of the day.

Laura left this review for Celebrant Cheryl Landsberry:

“Cheryl was the most organised, warm-hearted, sweetest celebrant you could ask for. She takes care of absolutely everything you need for the actual ‘getting married part’. The script for our ceremony was so beautiful and personalised. Cheryl really made an effort to get to know us when she wrote us the first draft for our ceremony. She put a lot of effort into our rehearsal too which made us feel SO comfortable on the day of the wedding. She even gave us some excellent practical tips for places to hide tissues if you get teary and how to help the photographer get some good photos (like slowing down when putting on the rings!). If you are after a sweet, light-hearted, a little funny but also sincere and heart-warming ceremony, then I cannot recommend Cheryl highly enough.” 💓

A second chance at love – Wedding at Sirromet Wines

  • Posted By cheryl

There’s nothing quite love that first love – that intense feeling of tummy butterflies, delicious deliria, and heart stopping kissing. But there’s something even more special about finding love a second time around – a sense of ease, comfort, assurance, and well being.
Jennifer and Bryan met when their children had become independent, and they gradually formed a relationship which culminated some seventeen years later when they married at Sirromet Wines.

I think Jennifer’s vows summed up their story, ” Bryan, you found me in the Autumn of my life and reaffirmed my capacity to love. In your arms, my spirit has been nurtured and my heart restored. And so I promise to spend the Autumn and the Winter of my life caring for you and loving you.” These vows were just perfect for a second chance at love.

Jennifer and Bryan always aim to see the sunny side of life, and Jennifer appreciates Bryan’s sense of humour which never fails to make her laugh. In his vows, Bryan included the line, ” I promise to listen to you when I’m reversing the caravan,” which had not just Jennifer, but all the guests, giggling a little.

Their wedding ceremony at Sirromet Wines was attended my just their immediate families, which numbered a few with their children and their partners, and grandchildren of varying ages. The grandchildren were involved in the ceremony by presenting the wedding rings and blowing bubbles at the end of the ceremony.

Celebrant Cheryl Landsberry, local to Sirromet Wines, created a relaxed and intimate ceremony for the couple, and took care of all the legal essentials.

Jennifer wore a classic navy dress from Anthea Crawford, and Bryan wore a navy suit. If you’re looking for an outfit for a “mature bride” who doesn’t want to wear a traditional white wedding dress, Anthea Crawford has a huge selection. https://www.antheacrawford.com.au/collections/event-dresses

Photographer, Andy, from A Thousand Miles Photography captured photos of the luminous faces, and this became an especially memorable event which stands out in his years of photography. See Andy’s blog with lots of pictures here: https://www.athousandmilesphotography.com.au/weddingphotography/sirromet-winery-wedding?fbclid=IwAR1lVpx1zh52dvi29-lc1-Tsui2vFJ9i6EhtlJ2cgnyanwo57LZv7gOHdNg

After a celebration dinner at Sirromet Wines, the families stayed in the glamping accommodation at Sirromet – Sanctuary. https://sanctuarybysirromet.com/

Micro wedding at Mount Coot-tha

Lilac micro wedding at Mount Coot-tha

High school sweethearts Demi and Aaron slipped off for an intimate micro wedding in the Brisbane bushland, surrounded by just their immediate families.

When they first met in year 11, Aaron cleverly borrowed Demi’s phone in maths to “use the calculator function” and instead slipped his phone number into her contact list. They grew together as individuals and as a couple, and decided that they couldn’t imagine their lives without each other.

Demi chose the colour lilac for her bridesmaids which is one of my favourite colours.

She walked down the aisle to “Beautiful in White” by Shane Filan.

The team at Elope Brisbane coordinated the event so that Demi and Aaron just had to find their outfits and wedding rings and turn up on the day. How is that for a stress free plan?

Stylist Mel from Miss Weddings provided the arbour with white draping and the flowers were from Redlands Florist.

Celebrant Cheryl Landsberry kept the ceremony relaxed and intimate.

Photographer Romana Saeheng captured some beautiful photos of the couple.

And Demi turned up in a super cool hotrod!

Micro Wedding at Newstead Park Rotunda

Jazzmin and Jason had been to a few weddings, and they knew what they DIDN’T want for their own wedding. They didn’t want fanfare, fuss, extravagance or drama.

The couple approached the team at Elope Brisbane and asked for a quiet, intimate, genuine and relaxed ceremony with just their immediate family.

They booked the rotunda at Newstead Park on the Brisbane River via the Brisbane City Council web site, so were assured of the use of this area.

Stylist Mel from Miss Weddings placed white Americana chairs in the gazebo and assembled a timber arch with white fabric draping. Michelle from Little Miss Flower Shoppe provided the florals for the arbour, Jazzmin’s bouquet, and Jason’s boutonniere.

No wedding is quite complete without one, so Cakes by Simoneprovided a small cake for the guests to enjoy after the lunchtime reception.

Celebrant Cheryl Landsberry – Marriage Celebrant led the couple through the legal vows and witnessed them sign the three marriage certificates.

After the ceremony, photographer Romana Saeheng Photography and Graphic Design snapped relaxed photos of the couple around Newstead Park and the Brisbane River.

Wedding at New Farm Park

Leah and Amit envisioned a simple and informal wedding ceremony at New Farm Park with just their nearest and dearest and asked the team at Elope Brisbane to make it happen.

Leah looked lovely with her long, auburn hair pulled back in a pretty clip. Her dress featured sheer, leave sleeves, and she carried a bouquet from Little Miss Flower Shoppe.

Amit looked sharp with a fresh hair cut and a three piece navy suit with a boutonniere.

Leah and Amit dispensed with a formal bridal party, and invited their siblings to be their legal witnesses.

The hexagonal arbour with dried flowers and the white Americana chairs were styled by Miss Weddings, who also provided the signing table.

Celebrant Cheryl Landsberry – Marriage Celebrant created the ceremony to be relaxed and not too serious, as per the couple’s request.

Photographer Romana Saeheng Photography and Graphic Design led Leah and Amit around the grounds at New Farm Park for some sweet couple shots after the ceremony.

Videography was by Fizz and Co.

Celebrations after the ceremony were held at Smoked Garage at Fortitude Valley.

When they first met, David noticed that Michelle was so beautiful. He was also under the false impression that she was shy, but as she warmed to him, Michelle didn’t stop chatting.

Michelle noticed that David was gentlemanly and kind. He surprised her with his sense of humour and ease of conversation.

As they spent more time together, David appreciated Michelle’s kind nature and family values. He loved the way she sand and laughed. Michelle valued David’s intelligence and his capability when under pressure.

It wasn’t long before David started picturing a future with Michelle, and after obtaining her parents’ blessing, proposed to her. Which Michelle excitedly accepted.

Tango wedding dance

When this couple met at tango dance club meet, plenty of dancing was guaranteed at their wedding.

There is a certain etiquette to ask a partner to dance in the Argentine Tango. Firstly, eye contact is made, then perhaps a smile or a nod. Only then will a gentleman ask his partner to dance. Dancers dance together for three songs, so a significant part of the evening is invested in a dance partner.

Sometimes, there is an instant connection during the tango dance, whih leaves the partners a little breathless, and this was certainly the case with this couple.

What time should my wedding ceremony in Brisbane be at?

  • Posted By cheryl
  • on March 10,2023

When deciding what time your wedding ceremony will be held at, there are a few factors to consider.

These include what time the sun will be setting at, the amount of shade at the location of your ceremony, and how many photos you are requiring.

Firstly, you will need to find out what time the sun will be setting on your wedding day.

In Brisbane, the sun sets at about 5pm on the Winter Solstice (June 22) and about 6:45pm on the Summer Solstice (December 22). On the equinox, sunset is approximately 5:45 to 6:00pm.

The most flattering, soft light for wedding photos is the last one hour before sunset.

So for a winter wedding in Brisbane, photos would be 4pm to 5pm, which would require a 3pm ceremony.

For a Spring or Autumn wedding in Brisbane, photos would be 4:30 to 5:30pm, requiring a 3:30 ceremony. And for a Summer wedding, photos would be 5:30pm to 6:30pm, so a ceremony time of 4 to 4:30pm would be recommended.

Of course, if your ceremony will be held in a very shady area which loses light earlier, those times might be brought forward.

Before deciding on your wedding ceremony time, you may discuss this with your wedding photographer, whose experience will help to suggest the optimum time line for your wedding day.
